Teacher Testimonials
The first graders are the first to use the program and they have used it for two weeks. They enjoy playing the games while learning the location of the keys on keyboard. Keyboarding is never the most enjoyable topic to teach or learn especially at such a young age but the reaction so far has been positive. The program even lets the students print a certificate with their name once they have completed the training portion of the program.
Thank you for allowing me to add this program to the lab and for all the other things in the past as well.

I was so excited to receive the $1500.00 book grant from the WEF! It allowed Bayberry to create a separate character education section in the library. I have heard a lot of positive feedback from students and teachers about learning more about the character education topic being targeted each month. I have also noticed that students are taking out a lot of books on friendship, conflict resolution, and the books I've read during classroom lessons as well. It's important for the students to take these books home and read them with parents and siblings. Discussions about the lesson or moral in the story gives the parents a chance to reinforce some of the important social/emotional life issues that can't be given as much time as they should during the school day. It's so nice to have a foundation like the WEF! Thanks for all of your support!

Thank you again for approving the grant for the Store More Chair Pockets. I received the chair pockets at the beginning of January. They are working out great. The students like them because their books are always right on their chair and it keeps their desks much neater. It is such a time saver for me because I can quickly check what books each child is reading and if the books are at the appropriate level for the students. It is also wonderful when I want to work individually with a child. All they need to do is grab their chair pocket and come to the back table with me. Once again, thank you for allowing me to purchase these pockets.
Sincerely,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Watchung Educational Foundation once again for their generous grant monies. On two separate occasions, we have had grants approved by WEF for programs which, I feel, offer pure cultural enrichment to our students.
The performances enjoyed by both Bayberry and Valley View students, given by Hispanic Flamenco Ballet in the Spring of 2008, were simply outstanding! - - the performers tailored each performance to the slightly different age groups, provided helpful explanations on the origins of their music and dance, had members of our student-audiences participate in dances on stage, and, most of all, gave true tastes of 'living' hispanic culture in their sensory masterpieces!!. Students of all ages have been asking if or when we might see these performers again!
At the end of school-year 2008-2009, WEF also provided grant monies for an International Flag display in Bayberry's All-Purpose room. We were able to obtain the (over 50) flags which represent the cultural heritage of Bayberry's student body. I have heard students talking about the flags, finding their own flag, asking about others' flags. They are a beautiful addition to our APR, and an amazing representation of our diversity.
The flags will be rotated periodically. We ALL truly appreciate everything that you, your colleagues, and the Watchung Educational Foundation do for our students, your children.
With sincere thanks to you,
Amy Cohen, Spanish Teacher
